Project Overview
Rovuma LNG is an onshore LNG development and export project for the Mamba resources in Area 4 of Mozambique’s Rovuma Basin, planned for the Afungi Peninsula near Palma. Mozambique Rovuma Venture (MRV) is advancing the project, with ExxonMobil leading the liquefaction facilities and Eni leading the upstream development.
Design and Schedule
The planned development comprises twelve modular, electrically driven liquefaction trains and associated facilities. Each train is designed for 1.5 million tonnes of LNG per year, for a total capacity of 18 million tonnes per year. The project is currently in FEED and has not yet reached final investment decision.
As of May 2026, the project remained pre-FID; a final investment decision in the third quarter of 2026 and first LNG in 2030 remained planning targets.
