BOMESC Signs RMB1.6–2.1 Billion FPSO Topsides Contract with SBM Offshore Unit
Tianjin BOMESC has signed an integrated design, procurement and fabrication contract for FPSO topsides modules with Single Buoy Moorings, valued initially at RMB1.6–2.1 billion and scheduled for completion in the second half of 2028.

BOMESC Offshore Engineering said its wholly owned subsidiary, Tianjin BOMESC Offshore Engineering, has signed a contract with SBM Offshore subsidiary Single Buoy Moorings Inc. for the design, procurement and fabrication of FPSO topsides modules. The contract took effect on 24 September and carries an initial estimated value of RMB1.6 billion to RMB2.1 billion.
The modules will be built at BOMESC’s Lingang offshore fabrication yard and delivered FOB from the company’s own quay. Completion is scheduled for the second half of 2028. The completed FPSO will be deployed in South America, although the underlying project has not been named.
The disclosed value range is not a final fixed lump sum. It combines a fixed-price portion with a variable component calculated from the currently estimated workload, with the final amount to be determined from the work actually completed and agreed by both parties at contract close-out. Payments will follow construction progress and contractual milestones. Delay damages are capped at 10% of the contract value, and BOMESC will provide a performance guarantee for its subsidiary.
The award is notable for its integrated scope, extending beyond module fabrication to engineering and material procurement. BOMESC said the contract will support its workload and contribute positively to current and future results, while noting that the precise financial impact cannot yet be quantified because part of the value remains variable.
BOMESC previously delivered topsides fabrication, hull integration, final assembly and commissioning work for SBM Offshore’s FPSO Sepetiba. The Chinese contractor describes its Lingang facility as SBM’s first FPSO topsides construction yard in China. Tianjin BOMESC and Single Buoy Moorings also signed a strategic cooperation agreement in March 2026; the latest contract converts that broader relationship into a defined project with an agreed scope, schedule and pricing mechanism.
Beyond its work with SBM Offshore, BOMESC has secured module packages for South American FPSO developments including GranMorgu in Suriname and Hammerhead in Guyana, as well as modules for an offshore compression complex. The new award further reinforces the role of its Tianjin yard in supplying topsides for South American deepwater developments.
