PROJECT PROFILE

Mopane

TotalEnergies became operator of PEL83 with 40% as Mopane enters a new appraisal programme targeting a 2028 FID.

Appraisal and development preparation

Project overview

Mopane is a major deepwater oil and gas discovery in PEL83 in Namibia’s offshore Orange Basin. TotalEnergies completed its entry in September 2026 and became operator with a 40% interest. Galp retains 40%, while NAMCOR and Custos each hold 10%. The project has not entered full development execution.

Latest development and boundaries

The partners plan at least three appraisal wells, and Galp has indicated that the next exploration and appraisal campaign is planned to begin in Q4 2026. The development concept, capacity, FPSO configuration and major engineering awards remain to be determined. No public source confirms a COOEC award on Mopane, so no such project relationship is recorded.
