Project overview
North Field East (NFE) is the eastern phase of Qatar’s North Field expansion, developed by QatarEnergy with project execution by QatarEnergy LNG. Four large LNG trains are supported by offshore wellhead facilities, pipelines and cables, onshore utilities, and storage and loading infrastructure. NFE and North Field West (NFW) are separate phases within the wider expansion programme.
The four trains each have a nominal capacity of 8 mtpa. The developer describes the overall incremental capacity as approximately 33 mtpa, taking Qatar from 77 to 110 mtpa. These figures describe nominal train capacity and the overall expansion increment; they are planned capacities.
Gas supply, liquefaction and export infrastructure
McDermott coordinates the offshore scope. QFAB fabricates four wellhead topsides and subsea infrastructure, supported by the Batam yard. The approximately 300 miles of pipelines and 140 miles of 33kV cables disclosed by McDermott belong to the wider NFE/NFS contract combination.
