Project overview
North Field West (NFW) is the western phase of the North Field expansion, linking offshore gas supply to two large LNG trains at Ras Laffan. Technip Energies, leading CCC and GAC, secured the onshore EPCC contract in February 2026. A QMW company release dated 4 September 2026 describes a jacket fabrication cooperation agreement with CPOE Qingdao.
The two NFW trains replicate the NFS design and add approximately 1.1 mtpa of CO₂ capture and sequestration capacity. Together, NFE, NFS and NFW are planned to take Qatar’s LNG capacity to 142 mtpa.
Offshore jackets and fabrication cooperation
The QMW–CPOE Qingdao agreement covers NFW jacket fabrication and is the first project implemented following their April 2026 comprehensive cooperation framework. It builds on their collaboration on projects including the Ruya EPC11 jackets.
