Whiptail

The sixth Stabroek development, centered on FPSO Jaguar

Under construction

Project Overview

Whiptail is the sixth offshore development in the Stabroek Block and is operated by ExxonMobil Guyana Limited. Stabroek interests are ExxonMobil Guyana 45%, Hess Guyana 30% and CNOOC Petroleum Guyana 25%. The project will be developed through FPSO Jaguar and is targeting first oil in 2027.

FPSO and Delivery Model

FPSO Jaguar uses SBM Offshore’s seventh newbuild Fast4Ward MPF concept; the MPF 5 hull assigned to the project was built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding. The FPSO has design oil-processing capacity of 250,000 barrels per day and storage of approximately 2 million barrels. SBM Offshore is building and installing the unit under a Sale & Operate model, with ownership transferring to ExxonMobil Guyana before installation. Seatrium is fabricating modules and completing integration. SBM Offshore is expected to operate and maintain the FPSO for approximately ten years after start-up.
